BREAKING: Las Vegas Raiders Signs Another Veteran guard After DE Maxx Crosby to multi-year extension
Raiders sign DE Maxx Crosby to multi-year extension
The Las Vegas Raiders have announced that they have signed defensive end Maxx Crosby to a multi-year contract extension.
Crosby was drafted by the Raiders in the fourth round (106th overall) of the 2019 NFL Draft from Eastern Michigan. Over his first six NFL seasons, he has recorded 364 tackles (232 solo), 105 tackles for loss, 59.5 sacks, 23 passes defensed, nine forced fumbles, and three fumble recoveries.
Standing 6-foot-5 and weighing 255 pounds, Crosby earned his fourth consecutive Pro Bowl selection in 2024, tying for the second-most Pro Bowls by a defensive lineman in Raiders history. He led the team in sacks (7.5), tackles for loss (17), quarterback hits (20), and quarterback pressures (35), despite being placed on injured reserve on December 18.
Since entering the NFL in 2019, Crosby leads all defensive linemen in tackles for loss (105), ranks fourth in tackles (364), is tied for fourth in sacks (59.5), fourth in quarterback hits (144), and fifth in quarterback pressures (346). He is also third in Raiders history with 59.5 career sacks, and his 364 tackles are the most by any defensive lineman in franchise history during their first six seasons.
Crosby earned his third Pro Bowl selection in 2023 after setting career highs with 90 total tackles, 23 tackles for loss, and 14.5 sacks. In 2022, he finished first in tackles for loss (22), second in total tackles (88), tied for fourth in sacks (12.5), and tied for first in forced fumbles (three) among defensive linemen.
He made his first Pro Bowl in 2021, starting all 17 games and recording 56 tackles (36 solo), eight sacks, and seven passes defensed. He was also named AFC Defensive Player of the Week twice (Weeks 1 and 18), becoming the first Raider to earn the honor multiple times in a season since 2016.
In 2020, Crosby started all 16 games, totaling 39 tackles (20 solo), seven sacks, one fumble recovery, one pass defensed, and two blocked kicks on special teams. He was named AFC Special Teams Player of the Week in Week 17 after blocking two field goal attempts in a single game, becoming only the second Raider since 2000 to achieve such a feat.
As a rookie in 2019, Crosby finished second in the Associated Press Defensive Rookie of the Year voting after posting 46 tackles (35 solo), a career-high 10 sacks, four forced fumbles, and four passes defensed. He became only the second rookie in Raiders history to record 10 sacks in a season and just the fourth rookie defender in the NFL since 2000 to log double-digit sacks and at least four forced fumbles.
The Raiders are signing former Bengals guard Alex Cappa to a two-year, $11 million deal after Cincinnati released him this week to free up $8 million in cap space.
Cappa started 50 games for the Bengals after joining them in 2022, playing a key role in their AFC Championship run that season and standing out as their top offensive lineman. However, an ankle injury before the 2022 playoffs affected his performance, and he never fully regained his form.
Las Vegas is looking to strengthen its offensive line ahead of free agency, and Cappa’s addition helps in that effort. Notably, he was teammates with Raiders minority owner Tom Brady during their time in Tampa Bay.
