The Buffalo Bills have released punter Sam Martin, the team announced Thursday.

Martin was set to enter the final year of his contract, but negotiations to restructure his deal did not come to fruition, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

By cutting Martin, Buffalo will free up $1.9 million in salary cap space.

The 35-year-old punter spent the last three seasons with the Bills, averaging 46.7 yards per punt in 2024, with 46.3 percent of his punts landing inside the 20-yard line.

A fifth-round pick by the Lions in 2013, Martin has played in 189 career games with Detroit, Denver, and Buffalo.
