BREAKING: Chargers Receives Shocking News involving Pro Bowler to help Justin Herbert
One of the biggest priorities for the LA Chargers this offseason is upgrading the tight end position. Los Angeles needs a reliable pass-catching option at tight end, and simply tendering Tucker Fisk won’t be sufficient. The team could use a fresh addition.
However, the Chargers face a challenge: the tight-end market is relatively thin this offseason. Top prospects like Colston Loveland and Tyler Warren are ideal first-round targets, but there’s a strong possibility neither will be available at pick No. 22.

Fortunately, an exciting new option has just hit the market. In a series of cost-cutting moves on Thursday, the Jacksonville Jaguars released Pro Bowl tight end Evan Engram.
Jaguars’ Evan Engram release is great news for the Chargers
The LA Chargers are in need of a pass-catching tight end to complement blocking specialist Will Dissly next season, and Evan Engram fits the role perfectly. Adding him would significantly boost the Chargers’ offense.

A two-time Pro Bowler, Engram last earned the honor in 2023 with the Jaguars, recording 114 receptions for 963 yards and four touchdowns. His 114 catches rank second all-time for a tight end in a single season, trailing only Zach Ertz’s 116 in 2018.
While Engram’s production dipped last season—47 receptions for 365 yards and one touchdown in nine games—the entire Jaguars offense struggled. Even with the step back, Engram would still be an upgrade over the Chargers’ current tight end situation.

The Chargers don’t need Engram to replicate his 114-catch season; they simply need a tight end who commands respect in the passing game. Engram fits that mold and would be a great fit in LA. He’d also benefit from playing alongside Justin Herbert, who would be the most talented quarterback he’s worked with, even considering Trevor Lawrence’s potential.
Signing Engram wouldn’t impact the Chargers’ compensatory pick formula for the 2026 NFL Draft, a factor general manager Joe Hortiz values. Unlike Juwan Johnson, the top available free-agent tight end, Engram was released, meaning his signing wouldn’t count against the formula. That alone could make him an even more appealing option for Los Angeles.
