BREAKING: Chargers to pivot for stunning WR trade option for Justin Herbert
The Los Angeles Chargers are in desperate need of wide receivers to support quarterback Justin Herbert and are reportedly pursuing Seattle Seahawks star D.K. Metcalf.
Metcalf recently requested a trade, creating an opportunity for the Chargers to acquire the dynamic playmaker. However, Seattle’s steep asking price for the two-time Pro Bowler might force Los Angeles to explore other options.
If Metcalf proves too expensive, another intriguing alternative could be New Orleans Saints wide receiver Chris Olave. John Sigler of Saints Wire recently listed Olave as a potential trade candidate, pointing to his injury history as a possible reason New Orleans might consider moving him. Additionally, Olave becomes eligible for a contract extension this offseason.
The concern with Olave is his history of concussions—he missed half of the 2024 season due to two head injuries and has suffered five concussions since college. Any team interested in the 24-year-old, including the Chargers, would need to factor that into their decision.

That said, when healthy, Olave has been outstanding, recording consecutive 1,000-yard seasons to start his NFL career in 2022 and 2023, with a high of 1,123 yards in his second year.
Could the Chargers land Olave for a more reasonable price than Metcalf? It’s possible, though the Saints have him under contract through 2026 and are under no pressure to trade him. Still, if Los Angeles is looking for a viable receiving threat, pairing Herbert with Olave is certainly an exciting possibility.
