Buffalo Bills: Lock Up Key Defensive Star to Massive Contract
The Buffalo Bills made a stellar pick in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft, selecting EDGE rusher Greg Rousseau 30th overall. Since then, he has grown into a dependable pass rusher and a steady force against the run. With plenty of room to improve, his best football is still ahead of him.
Rousseau delivered his strongest season as a pro in 2024, setting career highs in tackles, tackles for loss, pressures, and quarterback hits while matching his personal best in sacks. In 16 starts, he tallied 53 tackles, 16 TFLs, 35 stops, 63 pressures, 24 QB hits, and eight sacks. He also posted a 16% pass rush win rate, ranking 12th, and a 9.0% run stop win rate, tying for 5th among EDGE rushers who played at least half of their team’s defensive snaps, per PFF.

The Buffalo Bills star enters the final year of his contract
With the Bills having exercised Greg Rousseau’s fully guaranteed fifth-year option last May—worth $13,387,000 for the 2025 season—he is now entering the final year of his rookie contract. Unless he and the team reach an agreement on a long-term extension beforehand, he is set to become a free agent next offseason. Given the rising market for top pass rushers, it would make sense for Buffalo to secure him on a long-term deal sooner rather than later, as waiting could drive up his price.

Signed DE Greg Rousseau to a four year contract extension through the 2029 season.
According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the Bills and Greg Rousseau have reached an agreement on a lucrative multi-year contract extension. As Rapoport reports, the deal spans four years and is valued at $80 million, including $54 million in guaranteed money. Per Over The Cap, Rousseau now ranks 10th in total salary, 12th in average annual value (APY), and 9th in total guaranteed money among EDGE rushers.
