After the New York Giants selected LSU wide receiver Malik Nabers in the 2024 NFL Draft, Darius Slayton sought a revised contract. While he didn’t receive an extension, he secured a modest pay raise and the chance to test free agency. Slayton had a lackluster season, playing in 16 games and recording 39 receptions for 573 yards and two touchdowns. However, his production was impacted by inconsistent quarterback play from Daniel Jones, Tommy DeVito, and Drew Lock.

A fifth-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, Slayton joined the Giants as an Auburn product with modest expectations but quickly proved to be a steal. As a rookie, he played in 14 games, starting nine, and posted 48 receptions for 740 yards and eight touchdowns while primarily catching passes from fellow rookie Daniel Jones. He followed up with another solid season in 2020, recording 50 receptions for 751 yards and three touchdowns.

After a disappointing 2021 campaign, Slayton rebounded under first-year head coach Brian Daboll in 2022. Playing in all 16 games, he tallied 46 receptions for 724 yards and two touchdowns, helping the Giants reach the NFC Divisional Round despite low preseason expectations.

Though the team struggled in 2023, Slayton remained productive despite constant quarterback changes. He matched a career-high in receptions (50) while setting personal bests in receiving yards (770) and touchdowns (4).

Since entering the league, Slayton has compiled 259 receptions for 3,897 yards and 21 touchdowns.
