BREAKING: Chargers Bring Back Another Familiar Face on Multi year eye-catching deal
With ample cap space and 26 pending free agents, this offseason was one of the most pivotal in Los Angeles Chargers history. While few of those free agents were key starters, retaining some for depth and roster flexibility remained essential. The Chargers prioritized their biggest move first, re-signing Khalil Mack at the start of free agency. Meanwhile, other teams were making swift moves, leaving Chargers fans anxious about the team’s slow approach. However, Los Angeles has now become more active in the market.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Chargers have re-signed linebacker Troy Dye on a two-year, $5.5 million deal. After limited playing time during his first four seasons in Minnesota, Dye stepped up last year in an expanded role.

A former fourth-round pick, Dye recorded a career-best 47 tackles and quietly became a crucial piece for Los Angeles. Though his stats may not stand out, he played a vital role in filling the gap left by Denzel Perryman’s absence and remained consistently available. While not a flashy signing, it’s the type of under-the-radar move that helps maintain defensive stability. With 2024 marking his first real season of significant playing time, Dye showed his potential as a difference-maker. Given his limited mileage, he has room to elevate his game even further in 2025.
