The Buffalo Bills reached an agreement with veteran pass rusher Joey Bosa early in free agency, aiming to strengthen a major weakness that was exposed late in their AFC Championship Game loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.

After parting ways with Von Miller before the start of the new league year, Buffalo signed Bosa to a one-year, $12.6 million contract—a gamble that the 29-year-old can still be a game-changing presence on the defensive front.

Shortly after signing, Bosa made his intentions clear to the Bills and the rest of the league.

“I’m getting old,” Bosa told reporters. “And I’m ready to win.”

The Los Angeles Chargers released Bosa after a season in which the five-time Pro Bowler recorded just five sacks and 22 tackles over 14 games.

Originally selected third overall by the Chargers in 2016, the 6-foot-5, 280-pound pass rusher has accumulated 72 career sacks, including four seasons with double-digit sack totals. The Bills are betting that Bosa has one more dominant year left in him.
