Rafael Devers is predicting a strong 2025 season for both himself and the Red Sox.

The 2024 campaign was challenging for Devers and Boston, despite the third baseman earning his third All-Star selection. He battled shoulder issues throughout the season, and while the Red Sox improved from consecutive 78-win seasons, their 81 victories fell short of a playoff spot.

However, optimism is high in Boston after Craig Breslow and the front office made significant offseason upgrades. Devers, who prioritized getting fully healthy this winter, has high expectations.

“(Fans) can expect a better year than last year from me,” Devers said Thursday, per The Athletic. “They can expect a lot from this team overall. We have a really good team, and I think the fans can expect us to compete for a World Series this year.”

Sportsbooks aren’t ruling out the Red Sox, even though they’ve only made the playoffs once in the past six years. With Opening Day approaching, Boston holds the eighth-shortest odds at FanDuel to win the 2025 World Series.

That said, success isn’t guaranteed on paper. Now that the front office has strengthened the roster, it’s up to Devers and his teammates to make the most of their revamped squad.
