BREAKING: Seattle Mariners Receive Unfortunate News that Left Fans Devastated
Seattle Mariners right-hander Matt Brash took another key step forward in his recovery from elbow surgery, which sidelined him for the 2024 season.
On Sunday in Peoria, Brash threw a live batting practice session where, unlike his previous session earlier in the week, hitters were allowed to swing freely.
After spending weeks in closely monitored rehab—progressing from flat-ground work to bullpen sessions and then throwing to hitters who were only watching—Brash was finally able to compete.

“No restrictions today,” said pitching coach Pete Woodworth. “Go get Vic, go get Mastro.”
Brash faced Victor Robles and Miles Mastrobuoni, each getting two plate appearances. Robles came out aggressive, swinging and missing at a first-pitch slider, while Brash mixed in his full pitch arsenal.

“Really good,” Robles said after stepping off the field.
Only two balls were put in play, neither resulting in hits. While Brash isn’t fully built up yet, he has steadily increased both his intensity and velocity throughout rehab.

“It was a really good first outing,” Woodworth noted, adding that initial sessions are often more erratic. “Everything was competitive in the strike zone. He’s grown comfortable with his two-seamer, and his slider command—usually a tough pitch to locate—was spot on. It was awesome.”
The next steps in Brash’s return remain uncertain, but Sunday marked another important milestone in his journey back to the mound.
