BREAKING: Cardinals Poised for Shocking Move Involving $260 Million Superstar
The St. Louis Cardinals have reportedly spent the entire offseason trying to move star infielder Nolan Arenado. With a significant amount of money remaining on his contract and the team seemingly shifting toward a rebuild, St. Louis has explored trade options. However, Arenado’s no-trade clause has severely limited the Cardinals’ leverage in negotiations, ultimately preventing a deal from happening.
Christopher Hennessy of ClutchPoints predicts Arenado will remain with the team for the 2025 season. He noted that the Cardinals attempted to trade him, including a blocked deal with the Houston Astros, but were unable to reach an agreement with any of the teams on his approved list. With three years left on his contract, Arenado is expected to stay in St. Louis for now, though trade discussions could resurface next year.

At this stage, a trade appears unlikely unless one of the six teams Arenado has reportedly approved (Boston Red Sox, Los Angeles Angels, Los Angeles Dodgers, Philadelphia Phillies, New York Mets, or San Diego Padres) faces a key infield injury. While Arenado remains a high-level player, his sizable contract makes it difficult for a contending team to take him on, even if the required trade return is minimal. As a result, he is expected to finish the season with the Cardinals once again.
