BREAKING: UNC Football Receives Unfortunate News Involving 4 Star DB
UNC football’s 2026 recruiting class remains under 10 commitments, with one four-star prospect.
First-year head coach Bill Belichick and his staff recently pursued Booker T. Washington (Ala.) junior cornerback Dylan Purter, jumping into the mix just over two weeks ago. Their efforts made an impact, as the 6-foot-1, 172-pound four-star included the Tar Heels among his final three choices alongside LSU and Kentucky.
However, on Friday evening, Purter committed to LSU. The Tigers had extended an offer in mid-February, and head coach Brian Kelly and his staff left a strong impression when they hosted him in Baton Rouge earlier this month.

Ranked No. 285 overall, No. 25 among cornerbacks, and No. 15 in Alabama per the 247Sports 2025 Composite, Purter was a sought-after target.
Despite missing out on Purter, Belichick and his staff have built a promising start to their 2026 class. Their group of nine early commitments, highlighted by four-star North Duplin (N.C.) defensive lineman Trashawn Ruffin, currently ranks No. 23 nationally and No. 6 in the ACC, according to 247Sports.
