The Baltimore Orioles will open their regular season on March 27 against the Toronto Blue Jays, but they’ll be without one of their key players. General manager Mike Elias told reporters, including Rich Dubroff of Baltimore Baseball, that star infielder Gunnar Henderson will begin the season on the injured list.

Henderson has been out since late February due to a strained intercostal muscle, limiting him to just three Spring Training games, where he recorded one hit in six at-bats.

While his absence is a setback for the Orioles, Elias remains optimistic that Henderson could return as soon as next week, suggesting the injury is not a long-term concern.

The 23-year-old is coming off a breakout season in which he set career highs with 37 home runs, 92 RBIs, 177 hits, and a .281 batting average, earning his first All-Star selection. His return will be a significant boost to Baltimore’s lineup, and the team hopes he can resume action without any setbacks.
