BREAKING: Red Sox release Another veteran right-hander few Days Before Opener
The Boston Red Sox have released right-handed reliever Adam Ottavino, the team announced Sunday.
Ottavino signed a minor league deal with the club a little over a month ago and joined big league camp. However, he was not going to make the major league roster, so he opted out of his contract, according to the Boston Globe.
This marks a brief second stint with Boston for the 39-year-old. He previously pitched for the Red Sox in 2021, posting a 7-3 record with 11 saves and a 4.21 ERA.

Ottavino spent the last three seasons with the New York Mets, recording a career-high 12 saves in 2023 along with a 3.21 ERA. Last season, he went 2-2 with one save and a 4.34 ERA.
