BREAKING: Giants re-sign another lucrative deal for linebacker

The New York Giants have re-signed inside linebacker Dyontae Johnson, an exclusive rights free agent.

Johnson, standing 6-foot-2 and weighing 230 pounds, appeared in the final two games of last season after missing the first 16 weeks due to an ankle injury sustained in the preseason opener. He made his NFL debut in Week 17 against the Colts and recorded 10 defensive tackles and one special teams tackle in the season finale.

Originally joining the Giants as an undrafted rookie, Johnson spent the entire 2023 season on the practice squad. In the 2024 training camp, he stood out with a strong performance, tallying four tackles (two for loss) and a sack in an Aug. 8 game against the Lions before spraining his ankle.

Before entering the NFL, Johnson played five seasons at Toledo, appearing in 57 games and amassing 273 tackles (115 solo), 22.5 tackles for loss, 6.5 sacks, nine passes defensed, one interception, two forced fumbles, and three fumble recoveries.

A Detroit native, he played high school football at Cass Technical High School, helping lead the team to an undefeated season and a state championship in 2016.
