BREAKING: Russell Wilson’s 6-Word Message to Jameis Winston After Signing Giants Contract
The New York Giants have been busy adding quarterbacks this offseason. They re-signed Tommy DeVito on a one-year, $1.03 million deal before bringing in Jameis Winston on a two-year, $8 million contract. On Wednesday, the team officially signed Russell Wilson to a one-year, $10.5 million deal, which could reach $21 million with incentives. According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Wilson’s contract includes up to $7.5 million in bonuses based on playing time, performance, and playoff success, plus an additional $3 million tied to wins and playing more than 50% of snaps.
Before Wilson’s signing, Winston was expected to be the Giants’ starting quarterback in 2025 as a bridge option for a potential rookie. Winston, who started seven games for the Browns last season, threw for 2,121 yards, 13 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions while posting a 2-5 record.
However, Wilson made it clear during his introductory press conference that he expects to be the starter. His statement shifts the quarterback outlook, as many previously believed the Giants would have an open competition at the position.

Despite adding Wilson, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that the Giants could still draft Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders with the No. 3 overall pick. Sanders has been linked to New York for months, even wearing Giants-themed cleats during the Alamo Bowl. If the team selects him, Winston would likely back up Wilson, while Sanders and DeVito would compete for the No. 3 spot in camp, allowing the Giants to develop Sanders at a comfortable pace.
