BREAKING: Another Mets pitcher hits injured list before Opening Day
Opening Day has arrived, signaling the conclusion of another Mets spring training in Port St. Lucie.
This year’s camp was overshadowed by key injuries to the rotation, with another setback emerging this week.
On Wednesday, Mets president of baseball operations David Stearns announced that Paul Blackburn will start the season on the 15-day injured list due to right knee inflammation.

With Frankie Montas (lat) and Sean Manaea (oblique) already sidelined, Blackburn was vying for a spot in the back end of the rotation. After receiving an injection in his knee, he will be shut down for 7-10 days, though Stearns anticipates his return before the end of April.

In Blackburn’s absence, Max Kranick and Huascar Brazobán secured spots on the Opening Day roster.
Tylor Megill and Griffin Canning will round out the rotation alongside Clay Holmes, Kodai Senga, and David Peterson. Holmes will take the mound for the season opener against Houston on Thursday, followed by Megill, Canning, Peterson, and Senga.
