Hubert Davis reveals UNC basketball’s top priority in the transfer portal
The North Carolina Tar Heels and head coach Hubert Davis are in for a busy offseason. While much of the attention is on finding a point guard following Elliott Cadeau’s decision to enter the transfer portal, that’s just one of several challenges they need to address.
During his radio show, Davis emphasized the need for his team to become more physical. His main priority for the 2025-26 season is adding size and toughness to the roster, and we couldn’t agree more.
UNC HC Hubert Davis is ready to add size and physical players via the transfer portal
Davis emphasized the need for North Carolina to get bigger, stating via Inside Carolina that improving the team’s physicality is a top priority. He pointed to Ole Miss’ size advantage as a season-long issue and made it clear that adding more size and presence will be a key focus this offseason.

Along with Elliott Cadeau, Jalen Washington has also entered the transfer portal. The 6-foot-10, 235-pound forward from Gary, Ind., will need to be replaced, marking an important task for Davis and his staff.

Early on, North Carolina fans seem to have their eyes on Donovan Dent as a potential transfer target, but even if the Tar Heels land the Mountain West Player of the Year, there’s still plenty of work ahead.
This past season was disappointing for UNC, as the team barely secured an NCAA Tournament bid—one that some felt was undeserved. While the win over San Diego State was a bright spot, the first-round loss to Ole Miss left fans frustrated and questioning Davis. To regain their trust, he’ll need to bring in impact players through the transfer portal.
