Buffalo Bills GM Brandon Beane spoke with reporters, clarifying and expanding on his previous “disappointed” remark about rookie wide receiver Keon Coleman.

With the NFL owners’ meetings taking place in Palm Beach, FL, reporters had the perfect chance to press Beane on various topics. During a wide-ranging 30-minute interview, he discussed recent contract extensions, the scouting and draft process, and a minor misunderstanding regarding Coleman.

The Bills selected Coleman, a 6-foot-3, 215-pound receiver with a 38-inch vertical, with the 33rd overall pick in the 2024 draft, expecting him to make an immediate impact after the departures of Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis. Coleman showed early promise, including a standout four-catch, 125-yard performance against the Tennessee Titans in October, but his progress was derailed by a wrist injury in November.

In a postseason interview, Beane expressed some disappointment in Coleman’s return from injury, noting he didn’t display the same physicality down the stretch. However, at the NFL Annual Meetings, Beane elaborated on those comments, emphasizing the positives in Coleman’s performance. He reminded reporters that Coleman was just 21 years old and still developing, stating, “Playing receiver is hard… I’m not sitting here today concerned about where Keon Coleman’s at.”

With the Bills opting not to acquire a high-profile wide receiver in free agency, Beane’s confidence in Coleman is reassuring for MVP quarterback Josh Allen and Bills fans. As Buffalo aims for a Super Bowl run, a strong season from Coleman will be crucial.
