The Buffalo Bills are coming off a strong 15-5 season, with MVP quarterback Josh Allen leading the way. Allen took the team all the way to the AFC Championship Game, though they were defeated by Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs. As the team shifts focus to the 2025 season, a lot of attention has been on the development of their new Highmark Stadium. On Saturday, the Bills celebrated a significant milestone with a “Topping Off Ceremony,” where construction workers placed the final steel beam onto the stadium’s frame.

Bills owner Terry Pegula expressed his appreciation for the workers involved in the project, saying, “We’re calling it the Topping Off Ceremony. It’s the last piece of steel we’re going to put on the stadium. I call it the first piece of building the rest of the stadium.” Before Pegula addressed the media, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, New York Governor Kathy Hochul, and Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz all shared their thoughts on the stadium’s importance for the Bills’ future. “I really believe this is going to secure this franchise here for decades,” Goodell said. Hochul added, “This is where I need to be right here, right now,” and noted, “This symbolizes the greatness of our state and its people.”

Poloncarz reflected on the stadium’s impact, saying, “When you stand next to the stadium, the future home of the Buffalo Bills, you realize not only how big the stadium is, but the impact it has had on this community.”

The Bills are undertaking these major renovations after quarterback Josh Allen’s impressive MVP season, in which he threw for 28 touchdowns and 3,731 yards, completing 63.6% of his passes. Additionally, he rushed for 12 touchdowns and 531 yards.
