BREAKING: UNC’s Hubert Davis Gets Major Transfer Portal News By Adding High-level Point Guard
Hubert Davis and the UNC basketball staff entered the transfer portal this offseason with a clear goal: to bolster their roster by adding a high-level point guard. After exploring several options, they’ve landed one of the top backcourt targets for the 2025-26 season.
Late Wednesday night, Colorado State guard and March Madness breakout Kyan Evans announced his commitment to the Tar Heels via social media.
The 6-foot-2, 175-pound sophomore earned a starting role with the Rams after coming off the bench as a freshman. He posted averages of 10.6 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 3.1 assists over 36 games, while shooting an impressive 44.6% from three-point range.
Evans made headlines during the NCAA Tournament with a 23-point performance—draining 6-of-9 from deep—in Colorado State’s upset win over Memphis. He played a pivotal role in the Rams’ postseason surge, which ended just short of a Sweet 16 appearance.
He becomes the third portal addition for Davis this cycle, joining West Virginia wing Jonathan Powell and Arizona big man Henri Veesaar. That trio matches the number of Tar Heels who have exited the program via the portal this offseason.
UNC may not be done yet, as they remain in the mix for BYU transfer Kanon Catchings and have also shown interest in Alabama transfer Jarin Stevenson.
