BREAKING: TCU Gets Good Transfer Portal News After Losing Hailey Van Lith
Texas Christian University wrapped up an impressive season with a 34-4 record and appeared to be a legitimate contender for the national title. However, their championship hopes were dashed in the Elite Eight of the women’s NCAA Tournament, where they fell to the Texas Longhorns, 58-47.
In that matchup, TCU struggled offensively, managing just 26.7% shooting from the field and turning the ball over 21 times. Although the game was competitive in the first half, the Horned Frogs’ lack of offensive execution ultimately led to their defeat.
To add to the disappointment, standout guard Hailey Van Lith has announced she’s entering the WNBA Draft.
Still, TCU’s outlook for next season is promising. The Horned Frogs will bolster their frontcourt with the addition of 6-foot-3 forward Marta Suarez, who is transferring in after two seasons at Cal. Suarez connected on 45.8% of her shots last year and, while she hit 31.5% from three-point range, she’s shown the potential to heat up from long distance.
A native of Spain, Suarez began her college career at Tennessee in 2020-21 but missed the entire next season due to injury.
She won’t be arriving alone—TCU is also bringing in former Notre Dame guard Olivia Miles and Kentucky transfer center Clara Silva, adding key pieces to an already strong roster.
