The Gophers women’s basketball team has added forward Tracey Bershers from Alabama-Birmingham through the NCAA transfer portal.

Bershers, a 6-foot-2 native of Fort Smith, Arkansas, has one year of eligibility left. She is the older sister of incoming Gophers freshman Zoey Bershers, a 6-foot-3 center. Tracey spent two seasons at UAB, where she also played alongside their older sister, Sara.

At UAB, Tracey led the team in three-point percentage (43.4%) and made threes (56, narrowly beating out Zoey). She began her collegiate career at Oklahoma State before transferring. In the 2023–24 season, she started all 28 games, averaging 9.1 points. Last season, she came off the bench in all 32 games, averaging 6.5 points and 3.1 rebounds, with nearly all of her made field goals coming from beyond the arc.

She becomes the second transfer portal addition for Minnesota this offseason, following the recent pickup of graduate guard Brylee Glenn from Kansas State.

These additions further bolster a Gophers roster that was already deep. The team returns all five starters from their WBIT championship squad — a title they secured despite being without injured stars Mara Braun and Taylor Woodson, both of whom are expected back in the fall.

Incoming freshmen include Zoey Bershers, a standout in Arkansas, and guard Makena Christian, ESPN’s No. 52-ranked recruit. Returning contributors Nia Holloway and Kennedy Klick will also be back after seeing valuable minutes last season.
