West Virginia University men’s basketball head coach Ross Hodge announced Saturday that guard Jasper Floyd has officially joined the Mountaineers program.
“Jasper’s a proven winner at every level,” Hodge said. “He brings exceptional intangibles and leadership, consistently elevating those around him both on and off the court.”
Floyd played for Hodge at North Texas last season, starting all 36 games. He led the team in assists (141) and steals (48), while contributing 9.0 points and 3.0 rebounds per game. His season highlights included a 23-point performance against Evansville, a seven-assist game in the NIT win over Furman, and the game-winning jumper against Arkansas State in the NIT’s second round. Floyd averaged 15.7 points per game during the tournament, hit a career-high four 3-pointers at USF, and recorded five or more assists in 12 games.
In 2023–24, Floyd played at Fairfield, starting all 35 games and averaging 9.5 points, 5.9 rebounds, 4.1 assists, and 2.3 steals per contest with a 2.0 assist-to-turnover ratio. He was one of just two Division I players to average at least 6.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 2.0 steals. Floyd led Fairfield in assists (153), rebounds (220), and steals (87), setting a school record for steals. He also helped lead the program to the MAAC championship game, the CBI final, and its winningest season in 13 years. He scored a season-high 25 points in a road win at Yale.
Prior to that, Floyd played the 2022–23 season at Hillsborough College, averaging 14.7 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 5.0 assists per game, with a season-best 35-point effort against State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota. He also spent time at Northwest Florida State College, where he helped lead the team to the 2022 NJCAA Division I National Championship.
