Florida cornerback Dijon Johnson, 21, was arrested over the weekend in Tampa and charged with two felonies — including firearm possession — and two misdemeanors. According to jail records, he was booked early Saturday and released Sunday night after posting an \$8,500 surety bond.

Police say they stopped Johnson’s gray Dodge Challenger on Friday after it ran a stop signal. During the stop, officers reported a strong smell of burned marijuana and said Johnson was uncooperative, refusing to exit the vehicle. He was eventually removed and taken into custody.

A search of the car uncovered marijuana, 8 grams of synthetic marijuana inside a backpack, and a loaded Glock 19 with 17 rounds. The firearm possession charge is a second-degree felony, while possession of synthetic marijuana is a third-degree felony. The remaining charges — marijuana possession and resisting arrest without violence — are misdemeanors.

Johnson’s attorney, Tim Taylor, told The Associated Press that his client has pleaded not guilty to all charges and plans to issue a statement later.

Florida head coach Billy Napier acknowledged the incident, stating the program is aware and will continue to collect information while cooperating with legal and administrative proceedings.

Johnson, a 6-foot-1, 196-pound junior from Tampa, tallied 27 tackles and two pass breakups last season.
