The Florida Gators men’s basketball program is set up for sustained success through the end of the decade.
Head coach Todd Golden has signed a six-year contract extension worth \$40.5 million, keeping him in Gainesville through March 31, 2031. The deal comes just a month after the Gators captured their third national championship and their first since 2007.
Golden, 39, has revitalized the program in just three seasons, culminating in a title run that saw Florida win 12 straight games to close the season, including nine wins over ranked opponents—eight of them against top-12 teams, a school record.

Athletic Director Scott Stricklin praised Golden’s leadership, saying, “Todd has done an amazing job bringing Gator basketball back to national prominence. We believed in his vision and modern style when we hired him in 2022, and he’s exceeded expectations by delivering unforgettable moments for our fans.”

Golden expressed gratitude for the university and his players, saying, “My family and I are thankful to be part of Gator Nation. Florida has everything needed to win at the highest level, and I’m proud of what we’ve built with our players and staff. We’re excited for what’s ahead.”
With a 76-33 record at Florida, including a dominant 36-4 campaign in 2024-25, Golden becomes the youngest coach since Jim Valvano in 1983 to win a national championship.
