Report: Gunnar Henderson reveals what Orioles needs amid offensive slump

The Baltimore Orioles are facing a concerning slump at the plate, creating mounting pressure on a team with postseason ambitions. While the starting pitchers have delivered steady performances, the offense has largely come up short, raising questions about how the team can consistently generate runs. This week, Gunnar Henderson offered insight into what needs to change.

“You can’t just force it—got to keep putting quality at-bats together every night and focus on moving in the right direction,” Henderson told Matt Weyrich of the Baltimore Sun.

One glaring issue has been the Orioles’ struggles against left-handed pitching, while their results against righties rank closer to league average. That imbalance has led to an underwhelming overall offensive showing, prompting the coaching staff to reassess and explore both immediate and long-term solutions.

There is reason for optimism, however. The upcoming schedule is free of left-handed starting pitchers, giving the Orioles a window to implement those adjustments without facing one of their toughest matchups. A few strong games could quickly swing momentum back in their favor.

If the lineup can improve its plate discipline and find a rhythm, their postseason hopes remain within reach. Henderson continues to lead by example—both on the field and in the clubhouse—and his presence could be a key factor if the team is to rebound.

Ultimately, Baltimore’s fate hinges on whether the offense can adapt on the fly, stay mentally sharp, and turn promise into results. The struggles are real, but so is the opportunity—and a shift in approach might be exactly what’s needed to reignite this playoff push.
