BREAKING: Phillies ‘Elevate’ World Series Hopes In Disgruntled $313 Million Superstar Trade Idea

The Philadelphia Phillies made few changes to their lineup after last fall’s disappointing playoff exit, but there’s still time to shake things up in a big way. With pressure mounting to deliver on their World Series hopes—and several core players like J.T. Realmuto, Kyle Schwarber, and Ranger Suárez approaching free agency—the team could be motivated to act. One potential opportunity lies in Boston, where tensions are rising between the Red Sox and star slugger Rafael Devers.

After being shifted to designated hitter in spring training and now asked to try first base, Devers publicly questioned chief baseball officer Craig Breslow, saying, “I’m not certain what problem he has with me,” according to Gabrielle Starr of the Boston Herald. Devers, who signed a 10-year, $313.5 million deal before Breslow’s arrival, may not have a solid relationship with the new front office—raising the possibility of a trade if Boston can land a first baseman in return.

This situation has sparked speculation, including from Jake Storiale of Talkin’ Baseball, who floated the idea of a trade sending Devers to the Phillies. “Can you imagine the star power?” he said, proposing a package centered around Alec Bohm and some of Philadelphia’s pitching prospects.

Storiale argued that Bohm could fill the Red Sox’s need at first base and add a valuable right-handed bat, while Devers could become the Phillies’ long-term designated hitter if Schwarber leaves. Though it would be a blockbuster deal, Devers’ dissatisfaction in Boston might just make it feasible.
