After Tuesday night’s game was postponed, the Phillies announced their starting pitchers for Wednesday’s doubleheader — and there were no surprises.
Left-hander Jesús Luzardo, who was originally scheduled to pitch on Tuesday, will start the first game against the Cardinals at Citizens Bank Park. Right-hander Aaron Nola, who was already lined up for Wednesday, will get the ball in the second game.
The Cardinals have yet to reveal their starters. Sonny Gray had been expected to pitch Tuesday, while Erick Fedde was listed for Wednesday before the rain delay.

Following the Cardinals’ win in Monday’s opener, the two teams will wrap up their three-game series with Wednesday’s split doubleheader. Game 1 is set for 1:05 p.m. ET, with Game 2 scheduled for 6:15 p.m. ET. The Phillies noted that tickets from Tuesday’s postponed game will be honored for the nightcap, and gates will open at 5:15 p.m.

Luzardo has been outstanding in his first season with Philadelphia after being acquired from the Marlins during the offseason. He leads the National League with a 2.1 WAR and has posted a 2.11 ERA over eight starts, totaling 47 innings. The Phillies are 6-2 in those games, and Luzardo has arguably been their top performer in a stacked rotation.
Nola, meanwhile, is looking to rebound from an inconsistent start to the season. After beginning the year with five straight losses, he showed signs of improvement in two solid outings before struggling again last Friday. Despite a 4.89 ERA through eight starts, he’s continued to strike out hitters at a good rate but has been hurt by home runs. Wednesday gives him a chance to reestablish some momentum.
