The Buffalo Bills boast one of the NFL’s most overlooked talents.
Despite falling short in the AFC Championship Game once again at the hands of Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs, the Bills put together a strong 2024 campaign.
A big part of their success came from consistent performances by their offensive playmakers.
In a recent piece by Pro Football Focus’ Jonathon Macri, he named the most underrated player on each NFL team. For the AFC East champion Bills, Macri chose wide receiver Khalil Shakir.

“Shakir has been a steady presence in Buffalo’s receiving group over the last two seasons,” Macri wrote. “He really stepped up in 2024 after Stefon Diggs’ departure, leading the team in targets, receiving yards, PFF receiving grade, and yards per route run — finishing top 25 league-wide in each of those categories.”
While losing a star like Diggs could have derailed many teams, Josh Allen continued to thrive — ultimately earning NFL MVP honors.

A major reason for that was Shakir’s emergence. He ended the season with 821 receiving yards and four touchdowns, proving the Bills’ offense isn’t just reliant on Allen’s running ability.
With Shakir playing a pivotal role, Buffalo will now aim to reach the Super Bowl for the first time since 1994 — and finally bring home the franchise’s first Lombardi Trophy.
