On May 18, the Boston Red Sox advanced outfield prospect Jhostynxon Garcia to Triple-A and moved fellow outfielder Zach Ehrhard up to Double-A, as reported by Andrew Parker of Beyond the Monster.

Garcia had played 33 games at the Double-A level this season, posting a .256/.355/.393 slash line with five doubles, a triple, and three home runs in 117 at-bats. He tallied 17 RBIs, scored 19 runs, and stole four bases.

The 22-year-old has significantly improved his plate discipline this season. After walking at a 7.2% clip in 2024 (33 walks in 459 plate appearances), he has already drawn 18 walks in 138 plate appearances in 2025, boosting his walk rate to 13%.

Garcia made a notable leap in 2024, beginning the year in Single-A and finishing in Double-A. His upward trajectory continues in 2025.

Zach Ehrhard, a fourth-round pick in the 2024 draft, is in the midst of an explosive breakout season at High-A. The right-handed outfielder has been on fire, slashing .342/.471/.459 with 10 doubles, one home run, 22 RBIs, 24 runs scored, and seven stolen bases in as many attempts. His plate discipline has been impressive as well, drawing 26 walks while striking out just 27 times.

Ehrhard recently had a 13-game hitting streak snapped, but he’s already started a new one, hitting safely in four straight games. High-A was no longer providing much of a challenge, making his promotion to Double-A a logical next step.

The Red Sox currently face an enviable dilemma: a surplus of talent throughout their farm system has created roster bottlenecks. More promotions are likely on the horizon, but some deserving players might have to wait due to limited space at higher levels.

Ehrhard now joins his older brother, Drew, at Double-A, while Jhostynxon Garcia moves up to Triple-A, where he’ll team up with top prospects Roman Anthony and Marcelo Mayer. Red Sox fans shouldn’t expect Anthony to be called up to the majors just yet, however — there’s still room for Garcia on the WooSox roster without needing to rush Anthony. His time will come, especially if Boston’s offense continues to underperform.
