With summer workouts approaching, anticipation is growing around LSU women’s basketball as the team welcomes a major addition: forward Amiya Joyner, who is transferring in after an impressive three-year career at East Carolina.

At ECU, Joyner averaged 12.8 points and 9.6 rebounds per game, collecting 905 career rebounds—fourth-most in program history—and ranking fourth in blocks with 132. She led the Pirates last season with 15.0 points and 9.2 boards per game, recorded 41 career double-doubles, and earned First-Team All-AAC honors for 2024-25.

On Friday, Joyner teased her arrival at LSU with a post on X: “See ya tmrw, 225! 🥲,” signaling her move to Baton Rouge and preparations at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.

The following day, LSU star guard Mikaylah Williams—coming off a First-Team All-SEC season—welcomed Joyner with a simple message: “welcome homeeee 💜💛.”

Williams, a 6-foot guard from Bossier City, Louisiana, has quickly risen to national prominence. After earning SEC Freshman of the Year honors in 2023-24, she continued her stellar play in 2024-25, averaging 17.3 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game while shooting 46.5% from the field, 38.6% from three, and 85.8% at the line.

Her standout performance earned her a spot on the All-SEC First Team, placing her among the program’s elite.

Led by head coach Kim Mulkey, the Tigers have become a dominant force nationally, winning the 2023 NCAA Championship and posting a 122-20 record since 2021, including 52-11 in SEC play.
