Purdue has extended a scholarship offer to 7-foot-2 center Dylan Betts, a standout from the 2028 recruiting class. Head coach Matt Painter recently scouted the rising sophomore during an Adidas 3SSB session in the Omaha area, where Betts competed with Tru Colorado’s 15U team. Shortly after, the Boilermakers made their move.

Betts, a sophomore at Cherry Creek High School in Greenwood Village, Colorado, now holds offers from Purdue, Washington, and UNLV. Although he has yet to receive a rating from 247Sports, his performance—especially his shot-blocking ability and efficiency around the rim—has drawn attention. As a freshman, he averaged 7.7 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 3.2 blocks per game while shooting 51% from the field.

Purdue has a strong history of developing elite big men under Painter, thanks in large part to assistant coach Brandon Brantley, who has mentored players like Zach Edey, Trevion Williams, Caleb Swanigan, AJ Hammons, and Isaac Haas.

Dylan Betts comes from a highly athletic family. His older sister, Lauren Betts, stars at UCLA and was named the Big Ten and National Defensive Player of the Year for the 2024–25 season. Another sister, Siena, is committed to UCLA for 2025. Their mother, Michelle, played volleyball at Long Beach State, while their father, Andrew, played basketball there and was a second-round pick in the 1998 NBA Draft by the Charlotte Hornets.
