BREAKING: Bills Coach Reveals Encouraging Update About Keon Coleman After Latest Injury Strike

The Buffalo Bills remain optimistic about Keon Coleman’s future.

Although the second-round pick entered the league with dark horse Offensive Rookie of the Year buzz, he didn’t quite meet expectations in his debut season.

Still, Coleman is young, highly athletic, and has plenty of upside. One quiet rookie campaign isn’t a reason to write him off.

That’s why Bills fans have good reason to be encouraged by head coach Sean McDermott’s recent comments. As reported by Matt Parrino of Syracuse.com on X, McDermott praised the strides Coleman has made this offseason:

“He came back in great shape. You could clearly see the work he’s put in—both in drills and the weight room. I’m really proud of what he’s done so far. Now it’s about maintaining that progress through these next three weeks of camp,” McDermott said.

A former Florida State standout, Coleman played in 13 games (starting 12) as a rookie. He finished the year with 29 catches on 57 targets, totaling 556 yards and four touchdowns. He averaged an impressive 19.2 yards per catch and 42.8 yards per game.

While those numbers might seem modest, they hint at Coleman’s ability to stretch the field and create explosive plays. With Josh Allen spreading the ball around in an MVP-caliber season, Coleman’s role was limited, but the potential was evident.

If he capitalizes on his chances in year two, it wouldn’t be surprising to see him take on a bigger workload—potentially similar to what Stefon Diggs had during his peak with Allen.

Many players make a big leap in their second year, and Coleman is shaping up to be a strong candidate to follow that path.
