Bob Melvin had seen enough during the Giants’ matchup with the Detroit Tigers on Tuesday at Comerica Park.
The San Francisco skipper was ejected in the bottom of the fifth inning after home plate umpire Tony Randazzo ruled a low Logan Webb sinker as a ball. Following the ejection, Melvin erupted at Randazzo.
To fully grasp the situation, some context is important: just moments earlier, in the top of the fifth, Giants catcher Patrick Bailey had struck out looking on a pitch outside the strike zone to end the inning. Bailey had a brief exchange with Randazzo as he returned to the field.

By the time Webb returned to the mound, it was evident Melvin had grown frustrated with Randazzo’s strike zone. Down 3-0, he stood up for his players by challenging the calls.
This marked the 66th ejection of Melvin’s managerial career, placing him second among active managers behind Bruce Bochy of the Texas Rangers, who leads with 87.
