On Tuesday afternoon, the West Virginia Mountaineers got some positive—though anticipated—news as forward Brenen Lorient officially withdrew from the 2025 NBA Draft and will return for his senior year, according to CBS Sports’ Jonathan Rothstein.
Lorient, a 6-foot-9, 200-pound forward, began his college career at Florida Atlantic, spending two seasons there before transferring to North Texas to play under Ross Hodge. In his lone year with the Mean Green, he averaged 11.7 points and 4.9 rebounds per game—second-best on the team in both categories—despite coming off the bench in all 36 games. His efforts earned him the American Athletic Conference Sixth Man of the Year honors.

A native of Ocala, Florida, Lorient has yet to start a collegiate game, but that’s expected to change in his final season at West Virginia. The only other experienced power forward on the Mountaineers’ roster is Troy transfer Jackson Fields.
