According to Daily Faceoff’s Anthony DiMarco, the Philadelphia Flyers have signed forward Tyson Foerster to a two-year contract extension with a $3.75 million average annual value (AAV).

This deal secures one of the franchise’s top young offensive talents as they continue laying the groundwork for future contention. Foerster, 23, has quietly emerged as one of the Flyers’ most consistent scorers, registering consecutive 20-goal seasons in his first two full years in the NHL. In the 2024–25 campaign, he took a noticeable leap, scoring 25 goals while establishing himself in the top six and becoming a trusted player in critical moments.

In his exit interview, Foerster made it clear he wanted to stay in Philadelphia.

“Yeah, if they want to [give me a new contract], I’d love to be here forever,” he said. “I love it here. It’s great to play here, the guys are great, so I just want to get better every day. It could be a short-term deal, it could be a long-term deal, but whatever it is, I’m happy to be here.”

The extension offers the Flyers several benefits. Foerster brings a potent offensive skill set—his shot carries weight, his instincts are sharp, and he’s developed into a more well-rounded player since his AHL days in Lehigh Valley. While not flashy, his effectiveness is clear. Alongside his 25 goals, he logged solid two-way minutes and showed strong chemistry with linemates like Noah Cates and Bobby Brink—a trio that often provided consistent play for the Flyers.

Philadelphia’s leadership has emphasized the importance of nurturing and retaining young talent as part of their rebuild. Foerster, drafted and developed by the organization, fits that blueprint well. Head coach Rick Tocchet and GM Danny Brière view him as a dependable piece. This bridge deal offers cap certainty now and leaves the door open for a longer-term commitment down the line.

Foerster is also focused on refining his game, particularly his consistency and offensive versatility. With more opportunities on the power play and increased experience, reaching the 30-goal mark is a realistic target.

“Try to beat defenders one-on-one,” he said of his offseason goals. “Like, in overtime, when it’s a one-on-one or something or three-on-three, it’s a lot of open ice. I just try to beat a guy to the net and try and score off of that, not just my shot.”

Flyers, Tyson Foerster Agree to 2-Year Deal

Though the extension may not garner the attention of a blockbuster move, it’s an important one for Philadelphia. Foerster is a homegrown talent who wants to be part of the rebuild, has already proven he belongs, and still has upside. Re-signing him is about more than just production—it’s a key step in building the culture the Flyers are striving for.
