Despite the Chicago Sky suffering a lopsided 85–66 defeat to the defending champion New York Liberty, Angel Reese made WNBA history by becoming the fastest player ever to record 30 career double-doubles.
Reese reached the milestone in just her 42nd career game, surpassing the previous record set by Tina Charles in 47 games. Other notable names on the list include Candace Parker and Natalie Williams (56 games) and Lisa Leslie (58 games). According to ClutchPoints, the second-year forward tallied 17 points on 8-of-13 shooting, grabbed 11 rebounds, and added three assists and two steals in the loss. Reese currently leads the WNBA in rebounding with an average of 12.1 boards per game, though she’s struggling with efficiency, shooting just 30.9% from the field overall.

The Sky have also stumbled out of the gate this season, posting a 2–6 record while shooting 42.4% from the floor and a dismal 26.1% from beyond the arc. This was their second blowout loss to the Liberty, who also beat them 99–74 back on May 22.
Although the 2025 WNBA season has been a rough one so far for Reese, she did score a win off the court — taking home the BET Sportswoman of the Year award. The former LSU star beat out an impressive list of nominees, including A’ja Wilson, Flau’jae Johnson, Juju Watkins, Claressa Shields, Coco Gauff, Dawn Staley, Sha’Carri Richardson, and Simone Biles.
Up next, Reese and the Sky will face the 6–3 Atlanta Dream at Gateway Center Arena on June 13.
