Over their 124-year history, the Detroit Tigers have had countless players come and go. Some left a lasting legacy in the Motor City, while others have gradually faded from memory over time.
No matter how well a player performed during their time in Detroit, it’s always interesting to see what they’re doing now. As it happens, one former Tigers outfielder is preparing to take a temporary break from baseball to embark on an exciting new chapter in his life.

The Milwaukee Brewers have placed former Tigers outfielder Daz Cameron on the paternity list, per Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. According to MLB rules, players on the paternity list must miss at least one game but no more than three.
Cameron, a first-round pick by the Houston Astros in 2015, was acquired by the Tigers in the August 2017 trade that sent longtime ace Justin Verlander to Houston. A native of McDonough, Georgia, Cameron made his MLB debut in 2020 and appeared in parts of three seasons with Detroit, posting a .201/.266/.330 slash line with five home runs, 24 RBIs, 17 walks, and nine stolen bases across 73 games.

Following the 2022 season, Detroit placed Cameron on waivers, where he was claimed by the Baltimore Orioles and spent 2023 with their Triple-A affiliate in Norfolk. He later signed a minor-league deal with the Oakland Athletics before being traded back to the Orioles for cash in October. However, Cameron never played a game in his second stint with Baltimore, as he was traded again—this time to the Brewers in April—alongside cash considerations in exchange for veteran pitcher Grant Wolfram.
With Milwaukee, Cameron has hit .200/.220/.300 with one home run, three RBIs, one stolen base, and a walk over 19 games (40 at-bats). In Triple-A Nashville, however, he’s been thriving—batting .370 with a 1.273 OPS, six home runs, 18 RBIs, and three steals in just 11 games.
Fatherhood is a major life milestone, and for Cameron, it could be the spark that inspires him to elevate his performance and solidify his place as a regular in the big leagues.
