Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills put together an entertaining and successful season in 2024. They made a run all the way to the AFC Championship Game, where they lost in heartbreaking fashion to Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs. Due to his strong showing throughout the year, Allen was named the 2024 NFL MVP. He was more than deserving of the award, although it was a tough choice between him and Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson. For many players, winning the MVP is a big deal. However, for Allen, it was just another honor that didn’t fulfill his goals. Since coming into the NFL, Allen has made it clear that he only has one goal. He wants to win a championship and bring it back to the city of Buffalo. In a new interview with Sports Illustrated, Allen spoke out about winning the MVP award last year. He was clearly honored to be voted MVP, but he sent a clear message that was also an obvious warning to the rest of the NFL. Allen is still solely focused on the Super Bowl. “You know, it is such a great honor, and I do appreciate being honored for my work. But at the same time, I still didn’t win a Super Bowl. Didn’t win a ring, and that is the only goal. It’s the only focus that I’ve ever had going into this league,” Allen said.

While he is clearly frustrated about losing in the AFC Championship Game, Allen did open up about why winning the MVP award is a good sign for his team as a whole. “The one positive, I will say, about winning an MVP means that your team is in a good position. You’re making the playoffs, you’re playing well and you’re doing whatever you can to help your team win football games. But at the end of the day, you got to make the playoffs and then you got to win three, maybe four games. And that’s what we need to do. And we’re going to continue to work as hard as we can and myself included. What can we do to find a way over that hump? So that’s the only goal going forward.”

During the 2024 season, Allen played in 17 games. He completed 63.6 percent of his passes for 3,731 yards, 28 touchdowns, and six interceptions, while also rushing for 531 yards and 12 more scores. Heading into the 2025 season, the Bills are going to need another MVP-caliber season. Allen is more than capable of it and is driven by his championship dreams. Buffalo is already viewed as one of the top potential Super Bowl contenders in the league. With Allen so focused and driven to get one for the Bills, the league is officially on notice.
