Hubert Davis is prioritizing a bigger point guard for the future of the UNC basketball program, and Nasir Anderson fits that mold. During Davis’s tenure, the Tar Heels have largely relied on undersized floor generals—RJ Davis (around 6 feet tall) and Elliot Cadeau (6-foot-2)—who have excelled offensively but posed defensive challenges due to their size.
The last standout tall point guard at UNC was Coby White, who stood at 6-foot-5 and averaged 16.1 points per game during his lone season in Chapel Hill. Nasir Anderson, a 6-foot-4, 205-pound guard from Norcross High School in Georgia, could be the next dynamic scoring lead guard for the Tar Heels.

UNC recently offered Anderson, a rising junior and 5-star recruit in the class of 2027. He’s ranked as the No. 1 point guard in his class by 247Sports Composite and has seen a significant jump in the rankings, rising 28 spots to crack the top 12 nationally. His aggressive, physical style and ability to finish at the rim make him a standout.

Since June 15, Anderson has received offers from a slew of high-major programs, including:
- Kansas
- Tennessee
- Maryland
- Georgia
- Cincinnati
- Florida State
- Florida
- LSU
- California
- Indiana
- Ole Miss
- Georgia Tech
- Virginia Tech
- Virginia
- Louisville
Anderson further boosted his profile earlier this month by leading Team USA to a gold medal at the 2025 FIBA U16 AmeriCup. He earned MVP honors while averaging 12.3 points and 6.8 assists over the six-game undefeated run.

There’s no doubt Anderson will have his choice of top-tier programs, but with North Carolina’s strong legacy, visible need at point guard, and increasing investment in basketball, Hubert Davis and the Tar Heels could make a compelling case—especially if they assemble a competitive NIL package to match the interest from around the country.
