Dallas Wings rookie sensation Paige Bueckers, typically known for her calm and composed demeanor, let her emotions show during a July 5 practice session.
Although Bueckers has built a reputation for staying cool under pressure — a trait that’s helped her become one of the most popular figures in women’s basketball — the ultra-competitive 23-year-old isn’t immune to the occasional emotional outburst.
During the workout, Dallas reporter Melissa Triebwasser shared a clip on X showing Bueckers taking a pass from head coach Chris Koclanes and attempting a three-pointer. When the shot didn’t fall, Bueckers shouted in frustration.
She then took a ball from a team staff member and hurled it at a nearby wall. When it bounced back, she fired it again with one hand before finally handing it back to the staffer and walking off.

Though the reaction was clearly a spur-of-the-moment burst of emotion tied to the missed shot, it stood out — mostly because it’s rare to see Bueckers visibly upset in public. No one at the practice seemed fazed, suggesting it was nothing more than a fleeting moment of intensity.
Still, the incident offered fans a rare glimpse into Bueckers’ competitive edge — and a side of her that’s seldom on display.
