The Detroit Tigers are sending an MLB-best six players to the 2025 All-Star Game, including a league-leading three position player starters for the American League — not counting starting pitcher Tarik Skubal. That total matches the second-highest number of All-Stars in team history, trailing only the seven selections in 1985, the year after their World Series title.

Riley Greene, Gleyber Torres, and Javier Báez will all start for the AL on Tuesday at Truist Field in Atlanta, with Skubal taking the mound. Casey Mize and Zach McKinstry have also earned spots as reserves.
This level of All-Star representation is a major accomplishment for Detroit, especially given the team’s struggles in recent years when it comes to sending players to the Midsummer Classic.
Tigers All-Star history should have fans’ jaws on the floor with 2025 selections

The Tigers experienced a renaissance from the late 2000s through the early 2010s, highlighted by their most successful run in the modern era with four consecutive AL Central titles from 2011 to 2014. Star players like Miguel Cabrera, Magglio Ordóñez, Curtis Granderson, Justin Verlander, Max Scherzer, Prince Fielder, Victor Martinez, and José Valverde were key contributors during this period, which consistently saw multiple Tigers named to the All-Star Game.
However, the years that followed brought a downturn for the franchise, both in performance and All-Star representation, with limited appearances from 2015 until recently.

Now, the Tigers have surged back to the top, boasting the best record in Major League Baseball and the highest number of All-Stars this season. Fans hope this signals the beginning of another dominant era for Detroit baseball.
