Despite sending six players to the 2025 MLB All-Star Game, the Detroit Tigers had a forgettable showing in Atlanta on Monday.

Ace Tarik Skubal was the American League’s starting pitcher, while Gleyber Torres, Riley Greene, and Javier Báez all cracked the starting lineup. Casey Mize came out of the bullpen, and Zack McKinstry later entered as the designated hitter. But the group failed to live up to the All-Star billing.

Skubal gave up a pair of singles and a double to start the game, putting the AL in a quick 2-0 hole. Mize later surrendered a solo homer to Corbin Carroll in the sixth. Offensively, Torres and Greene struck out swinging in their first at-bats, finishing 0-for-2 and 0-for-3, respectively. Báez went 0-for-2, and McKinstry didn’t reach base in his only plate appearance.

According to OptaSTATS, Detroit became the first team in MLB history to have six or more players appear in an All-Star Game and have none of them register a hit or pitch a scoreless outing.

The American League managed to erase a 6-0 deficit, but ultimately fell in the event’s first-ever swing-off. The Tigers, who had the league’s best record entering the break, will look to rebound from their recent four-game skid when they return to action Friday against the Texas Rangers.
