After yet another disappointing season out of contention, the St. Louis Cardinals will be starting a crucial offseason.

Chaim Bloom, a veteran Boston Red Sox executive, will take over as president of baseball operations for the Cardinals once the season ends. Bloom will be in charge of making decisions on player personnel after he becomes leadership.

There will undoubtedly be a shakeup following yet another disappointing season for a major National League team, whether it takes the shape of trades or the loss of players to free agency.

Improving the farm system is a top priority

St. Louis may decide to upgrade their minor league system, according to Cardinals writer Katie Woo. Woo has previously hinted that the Cardinals could not be competitive in 2026, so now is a good time to trade for prospects and give them time to grow in the organization’s farm system.

“The cliched but accurate response is that it will take a number of years before fans can really witness the adjustments made to the minor league system being reflected at the big league level. However, that does not imply that significant change is not occurring. The Cardinals’ spring training complex is finally being renovated, and significant facilities improvements are anticipated.

The Red Sox’s ‘no pun intended’ major three prospects, who were drafted and developed by Chaim Bloom, are now beginning to blossom and establish themselves.

Additionally, Woo stated in the NY Times mailbag that Bloom will be crucial to the Cardinals’ catch-up game, particularly with regard to minor league resources.
