Paige Bueckers has quickly cemented herself as a recognizable presence in Dallas sports. The Dallas Wings guard, posting averages of 18.9 points, 5.4 assists, and 3.8 rebounds across 32 games, has already become a foundational piece for the franchise. Yet her influence reaches well beyond the hardwood, as she actively seeks ways to engage with the community.

On Aug. 25, Bueckers teamed up with Verizon to host a special basketball clinic in Dallas for athletes between the ages of 13 and 17. The event featured drills, friendly competitions, and open conversations with Bueckers, along with a live DJ and photobooth to create a fun atmosphere. More than anything, though, it was about giving young players a chance to learn from the Wings star both on and off the court.

“Verizon has really supported me in terms of my values and giving back to teammates and the community,” Bueckers told Dallas Hoops Journal. “Partnering with them on events like this — connecting with high school kids and those even younger — means everything. I want them to know I was once that kid too, going to clinics and dreaming big, and that they can achieve anything if they set their minds to it.”

Paige Bueckers on Connecting With Youth
For Paige Bueckers, teaming up with Verizon was about more than running a basketball clinic. It reflected her commitment to staying accessible, sharing her journey to inspire others, and reminding young athletes that their goals are attainable. It ties into her larger mission of making a lasting impact in the Dallas community.
“Just connect, just be one of the people,” Bueckers told Dallas Hoops Journal. “Don’t separate yourself or act like you’re out of reach. Building bonds with the community, engaging with the next generation, and using basketball to create those relationships matters to me. I want to be rooted here in Dallas and the DFW area and show that I’m committed to being part of the community.”
Michelle R. Miller, Verizon’s Senior Vice President, reinforced that idea, framing the collaboration as part of the company’s goal to “connect people to what matters most,” while also highlighting one of the WNBA’s brightest young stars.

A Growing Presence in Dallas
Paige Bueckers’ rookie campaign has already been packed with milestones, highlighted by her WNBA rookie single-game scoring record of 44 points in Los Angeles on Aug. 20. She now sits just 25 points shy of passing Arike Ogunbowale’s franchise rookie scoring mark of 630.

But even as she approaches those records, Bueckers has been just as intentional about building a presence in Dallas. She has visited Children’s Health, tossed the ceremonial first pitch at a Texas Rangers game, attended Dallas Stars playoff matchups at American Airlines Center, and appeared as a special guest at the Mavericks’ NBA Draft Party—cementing her place in the city’s sports culture.
For fans, that visibility underscores her goal of being more than just a player. Bueckers has embraced her role as a community figure, an inspiration for young athletes, and one of the emerging faces of Dallas sports.
