This week, the New York Mets’ pitching rotation has encountered an intriguing roadblock. Former Cy Young Award contender Kodai Senga was dropped to Triple-A while they continue to compete for their first division title since 2015.
In addition, New York added veteran relief reliever Wander Suero and brought up their No. 5 prospect, pitcher Brandon Sproat, to the major leagues.
The Mets added a former Reds reliever to strengthen their roster as they look to defeat the Cincinnati Reds in the series on Saturday.

Mets sign left-handed reliever Joe La Sorsa
The New York Mets signed left-handed bullpen reliever Joe La Sorsa before to their Saturday game. After the Cincinnati Reds designated him for assignment on September 2, the 27-year-old chose free agency.
La Sorsa finished with a 10.80 ERA, 2.25 WHIP, and two strikeouts in 6.2 innings during his five major league appearances this season.
Triple-A Louisville has accounted for the most of the lefty’s success this season. La Sorsa has a 2.82 ERA, 1.34 WHIP, and 41 strikeouts in 44.2 innings in 45 games for the Bats. Prior to the Mets possibly calling up the pitcher from Mount Kisco, New York, he will report to Triple-A Syracuse.

Despite the Philadelphia Phillies’ six-game advantage, the Mets are still vying for the NL East championship. New York, who currently have a four-game lead, could have to settle for a Wild Card position with less than a month remaining in the regular season.
