The Boston Red Sox have learned over the past week just how dependent their offense is on rookie sensation Roman Anthony. Heading into the offseason, it’s clear they’ll need to add another proven power bat to help carry the load.

One intriguing option may come in the form of a reunion. Fansided’s Robert Murray reports that the Red Sox are viewed as the top destination for Philadelphia Phillies slugger — and former Sox fan favorite — Kyle Schwarber, who’s set to hit free agency this winter.

Bringing Schwarber back would likely require Boston to part ways with current designated hitter Masataka Yoshida, but if it means landing Schwarber, the Sox are expected to do whatever it takes to make room.

Letting Schwarber walk after 2021 remains one of Boston’s bigger missteps, and this offseason could be their chance to make it right. With the financial flexibility to pull it off, Schwarber feels like a natural fit to help balance out the lineup.
