This weekend, the Boston Red Sox will play the New York Yankees at Fenway Park. The Yankees lead the American League East going into the series, and the Red Sox are only a half-game behind them. In the final weeks of the season, this series would determine whether club remains in the division competition.
This season, the Red Sox have an 8-2 record versus the Yankees. It would be very tough for the Yankees to win the division if the Red Sox were to sweep. After the Red Sox’s performance against the Yankees throughout the season, Aaron Judge discussed how the Yankees should approach this series.

According to SNY, Judge stated, “Flush the past, go out there, and focus on right now,” following the Yankees’ victory on Thursday. “There hasn’t been much progress against them, but this is the ideal moment to make that shift. Particularly now, as the year draws to a close. The moment has come to really step it up.”

With less than a month until the postseason, a sweep of the Red Sox would put the Yankees and Red Sox 3 1/2 games apart. If the Yankees are unable to catch the Toronto Blue Jays in the AL East rankings, that buffer might help them maintain their top wild card slot.

Judge appears to be the favorite to win the AL MVP Award, which he would do for the third time. But the Yankees will need Judge to perform this well in October if they hope to win the World Series.
