Nolan Arenado hasn’t been available for a major league game for the St. Louis Cardinals since July 30th, but that may change in the days ahead.
Arenado is presently with the Double-A Springfield Cardinals on a minor league rehab assignment. Arenado was set to play for Springfield on Friday before the third game of his rehab assignment, according to MLB.com’s John Denton. If all goes according to plan in the next few days, he may return as early as Monday.
The Cardinals star third baseman could be back in the lineup very soon
“3B Nolan Arenado is scheduled to play the field tonight and Saturday for Double-A Springfield and then he will be evaluated to see if he’s ready to return to the Cardinals (potentially on Monday), manager Oli Marmol said,” Denton stated.

Arenado has scored a run and gone 1-for-10 from the bat in his first three rehab outings. In addition to getting some time at third base on Friday, he also recorded his first hit during his rehabilitation.
Arenado’s shoulder ailment has kept him out. He was slashing before to being placed on the Injured List. 235/.294/.366 with 43 RBIs and 10 home homers in 96 games.

Arenado recently cited a June jammed finger as a pivotal event that may have contributed to the shoulder damage. His season-long data show that he was significantly different before and after the finger injury. Arenado slashed.249/.309/.399 and hit 10 home runs and 41 RBIs in his first 79 games. Before being placed on the Injured List, he went on to slash.167/.219/.200 with two RBIs in 17 games.
He was first put on the Injured List around five weeks ago. He should be able to return to the major leagues over the last few weeks of the regular season before the organization’s possibly lengthy offseason, assuming there aren’t any setbacks during the next few days.
